분자교정학 4월14일자 뉴스, 2011 (OMNS Apr 14, 2011)과학자들은 오랫 동안 비타민C의 고용량 처방이 다양한 질병에 효과가 있음을 연구 발표하고 있다. 비타민C가 항바이러스제로 효과가 있다는 자료는 쉽게 구할 수 있다. 비타민C는 다양한 독성물질을 중화하고 제거하는 것으로 밝혀지고 있으며, 인체의 저항력을 향상시키고, 면역능력을 강화시켜서 박테리아와 곰팡이 감염을 중화할 수 있는 능력있는 것으로 확인되고 있다. 가장 중요한 것은 비타민C가 항암 기능이 있다는 것을 입증하는 연구결과가 방대하게 발표되고 있다는 점이다. 1970년대에 휴 리오단 (Hugh D. Riordan)박사와 그의 동료들은 암의 원인에 대해 연구하고 독성이 없는 방식으로 암을 치료하는 방법을 찾고자하였다. 이 연구 결과 비타민C 정맥주사로 암을 치료하는 프로그램을 개발하게 되었다. 이 방법은 신뢰 받는 학계와 분자교정학계에서 널리 인정을 받기에 이른다. 그리고 이 방법은 기존의 암치료에 효과적인 보조수단으로 인정 받게 되었다. 종양학자인 빅터 마셜 박사(Victor Marcial, M.D)는 이 프로그램을 직접 이용하였다. 그는 다음과 같이 말한다. "우리는 4단계의 말기암 환자들을 연구하였다. 40명의 환자들이 40,000-75,000 mg(40~75G)을 매주 여러 차례 정맥주사 처방하였다. 그리고 이들은 추가로 식이요법과 보조영양제를 복용하였다. 초기의 반응은 환자들 가운데 75%가 암 종양 크기가 절반 이하로 줄어드는 것을 발견하였다. 방사선 암치료를 하는 의사로서 나는 그들에게 또한 방사전 치료도 행하였다. 비타민C는 2가지의 효과가 있다. 우선, 방사전 치료와 화학치료의 효과를 높여 주며, 부작용은 줄여 준다. 이 효과는 단순히 미미한 15-20%의 효과가 아니라 엄청난 효과이다. 비타민C 정맥주사를 사용해보면 그 효과가 대단하여 이 방법을 사용하지 않기가 어렵게 된다.
